About the teacher

Et Voilà! was created and is directed by Danièle Caraty, a French native who has lived in Australia since 1974.
The School aims to follow an independent structure.
Her qualifications as a graduate from the University of New South Wales and her broad experience as a French teacher allowed Danièle to develop her own teaching methods based on more than fifteen years of teaching French in primary and secondary schools as well as private and evening courses.
Danièle's teaching methods are very dynamic as the material used is constantly being updated with her regular visits to France.

According to Danièle it is never too early to learn a second language but it is never too late either.

About the approach, the methodology

One of the main characteristics that distinguish this School is the flexibility with which a course can be adapted to the particular needs of each student : if a group of friends for example, wish to learn together, Danièle can organise lessons specific to their requirements.
For people that prefer the personal attention of what an individual course can offer, their lessons may be tailored to respond to specific needs : be it a preparation for an examination, a trip or a special area in French such as
pronunciation and/or grammar.

The earlier, the better

One of the greatest satisfactions for Danièle has been teaching French to toddlers.
From the very young age, children approach foreign languages with no preconceptions and with an unbounded curiosity.
A young child is able to distinguish all sounds pronounced in all foreign languages and the earlier they are exposed to these foreign sounds/languages, the more he or she will retain a linguistic ability, both for comprehension and pronunciation

"The early study of a second language results in cognitive benefits, gains in academic achievement, and positive attitudes toward diversity."
( M. Rosenbusch,1995)

Experiments conducted in bilingual schools prove that children who study more than one language have less difficulties in learning how to read or write in their own language.
They generally progress faster in abstract fields, in reasoning and mathematics.

Use it or loose it ?

"The ability to learn a second language is the highest between birth and the age of six, then undergoes a steady and inexorable decline."
(Time Magazine 1997, "Fertile Minds")
